LOGLINE: An aspiring female writer meets with a best-selling author to sign a writing contract; unknowingly, it seems the deal is with the devil, and the weekend turns into a fatal love triangle. Satan’s Pen Name is a perfectly contained low-budget psychological thriller/horror as it uses three characters in one location and can be set anywhere in the United States. The story starts innocently and morphs into a terror situation with only our female lead staying alive. The plot has many twists before the satanic cult with ancient Oriental roots reveals itself. The story includes intimate moments with all the characters that create a fatal love triangle. The difference in this script is that it makes the inconceivable feasible. SYNOPSIS: The present-day story starts when an aspiring writer, Julie Morel, was selected by a best-selling author, Charlotte Lin, to join her writing team and publish her first novel. Julie travels to Charlotte's corporate headquarters, a Victorian house, to sign the deal with Charlotte's personal assistant, Lucinda Mattina, and her lawyer, Chuck Forrest. Charlotte Lin is a never pictured recluse. The entire story takes place in this house with only these three characters, Julie, Lucinda, and Chuck.
Due to their year of correspondence, Julie and Lucinda have an immediate connection. Julie also finds herself enthralled by the debonair Chuck, which causes a love triangle. Chuck then reveals to Julie that Charlotte Lin is his pen name; in reality, he is her. Julie gets this information in a dazed state due to the drinks they fed her. The goal is for Julie to become Charlotte Lin, as they need her face and talents to fulfill their upcoming HBO mega-deal. The deal includes Julie going to France, receiving plastic surgery, and returning to the U.S. as the Chinese-French Charlotte Lin. Julie signs the agreement, which feels like she is signing her soul to the devil. All the while, Lucinda and Chuck are prepping Julie for a satanic ritual if she changes her mind.
Julie does not trust the pair but can't leave the house. She sneaks into Chuck's office and reads documents that reveal Lucinda was wanted by the FBI and that Chuck is a satanic priest with a book of spells open to Xinao, an ancient Chinese brainwashing ritual. Chuck catches her in his office, and they then shackle her spread eagle on a table for the Xinao ritual, similar to a lobotomy with an ice pick. Lucinda talks Chuck out of that ritual, and instead, Chuck will conduct a satanic wedding that binds Julie to him.
Lucinda promises to free Julie and then poisons Chuck as he passes out on top of a shackled Julie. Lucinda then decides to be Charlotte Lin herself instead of Julie and attempts to strangle Julie. While being choked, Julie grabs the ice pick and shoves it into Lucinda's eye. Just when you think Julie is free, Chuck crawls back on top of Julie before she can free herself. While a dazed Chuck is on top of her, Lucinda gets on Chuck's back, takes the ice pick out of her eye, kills Chuck with the ice pick through his throat, and the two collapse onto the floor, dead.
One month later, Julie reads a statement to the press that she is the author Charlotte Lin and describes the fatal tragedy with her legal team. Julie went to France, had plastic surgery, and came back to live as Charlotte Lin.
