In Derbyshire, England, a dynamic female detective fights for acceptance and risks everything to solve the murders by an Ikiryo, a ghost of vengeance of a living person; if she fails, the spirit will possess her.
Concept
Chasing Ghosts is a race-against-time thriller-horror screenplay set in the Derbyshire area of the United Kingdom. The screenplay is the marriage of the British series Whitechapel and the American Lethal Weapon movies. Detective Leslie Taylor is the dynamic female force of this story who will capture the hearts of viewers of all ages. The ghost she is chasing is the Ikiryo, from ancient Japanese folklore. The Ikiryo is unique because a ghost of vengeance can be released from someone living, not dead. My concept brings the Ikiryo into the modern U.K. and uses this ghost to murder cheating husbands. The story is laced with comedy due to the difference in our detectives' ages, cultures, and the idea of a murdering ghost. In many ways, it is a coming-of-age story for Leslie to gain acceptance in the police force.
